T E S T I M O N I A L S
My name is K, and I also go by Kay.
I'm a photographer, writer, friend, and enthusiastic introvert. I love riding my bike and eating obnoxiously munchy things in public. I also enjoy facilitating workshops, public speaking, and making fires on the beach.
Thanks for visiting my website! Here's some info about my work and values:
WHAT I BELIEVE IN
I picked up a camera ten years ago because I was curious about people.
Since then, I’ve discovered photography to be a joyous medium to tell the stories I want to tell. These are often stories about love, recognition, struggle, and self. I recently heard that a translation of photography means “to write with light,” and everything about that quote feels right to me.
As a queer artist of colour, I photograph people from all directions of life. My work spans across – and celebrates – identity and difference. My goal is for every person to feel represented and seen in my work, and I deeply believe in the power of the image to build connection across diversity.
I am a self-taught photographer, which means I've learned what works through lived experience, intuition, feedback, and trust. My core values are consent, client agency, and body/sex/fat-positivity, and my approach is relationship-based: I'm invested in your story and who you are in addition to the images we create together. I want us to have fun, but I also want to capture the shot that holds up a mirror to you.
I’m just as curious about people ten years later. I can't wait to meet you!
